Let me pre-warn you about this post. You’re going to read it and think, this guy is an idiot. Just trust me on this, ok? Ok.
We all wake-up with some kind of goal for the day. Whether it’s getting some cleaning done, finishing up that big report at work, or just giving someone a phone call. Goals are great to have and especially when it comes to accomplishing them. It’s a great way to make you feel better about yourself.
We all have a lot on on plate. Stress. Anxiety. Health. Debt. It’s a lot that bears down on our shoulders. I know how you feel. It can really make you feel tired and depressed and no one wants to go through that.
The other day I had a talk with myself on how I can make myself feel better about accomplishing goals that seem to be taking forever. After some thinking, the idea came to me and I was kind of peeved that I didn’t think of this sooner. Are you ready? Are you ready to know? Are you really ready? *start drum roll* A Simple To-Do List. *drum roll stops and you look at me weird* It’s the easiest way to feel like you’re accomplishing goals and you’re achieving small victories.
Create a Monday-Friday To-Do list on your favorite spreadsheet software. If you’re using this at home, make it Sunday-Saturday. Fill up a sheet with tasks that NEED TO BE DONE on certain days. Now, in between those major tasks, put some silly, mundane tasks around it. For instance: Make Pot of Coffee; Empty Dishwasher; Put Bills In Mailbox; Schedule Conference Call; Return Boss’ Golf Outing Email; Go The Day Without Knocking Out Your Co-Worker. You get the point. When you put these simple accomplishments around big tasks, you feel like you’re succeeding for the day. It’ll make you want to continue to do more. Sometimes the littlest victories are the greatest ones. If you don’t believe me, try this for a week. I dare you. Let me know how it works out you. Most importantly, don’t forget to do the big tasks! Ha!
Thanks for reading and stay successful!
